About the
E. 29th Laneway house project

Our commitment to projects that improve neighbourhood density is evident in this renovated house with a new 2 storey laneway home at the back of the lot.

In order to retain the existing post war house while improving the living spaces, we removed the main roof & added a new floor on top of the main floor, creating a more liveable family home that suited our client’s changing needs as a growing family. On the main floor we were also able to add an extra foot for 9’ ceilings with more vertical volume for the public spaces (kitchen/ living/ dining/ entry) on that level.

Features:

  • All natural non-toxic materials used throughout the house
  • Advanced building envelope detailing to meet a rating of ACH 1.0@50Kpa air tightness for preventing air leaks into interior spaces
  • Advanced insulation detailing for all exterior walls, upgrading outdated batt insulation while also adding fire prevention properties
  • Insulated concrete forms (ICFs) used on laneway house foundation walls to prevent thermal bridging
